Murray River tour from Goolwa to Echuca

The Mighty Murray River meanders
along for over 2,500 km’s from the NSW highlands to Goolwa in SA. The
Murray River is home to many species of water birds, native fish (including
the Murray Cod) as well as the Majestic River Red Gums and Black Box
scrub.
The
Murray River once provided a water highway to Australia’s inland with
fleets of paddle steamers negotiating the narrow, winding watercourses
to supply stations and settlements with their requirements and to carry
wool and other products of the region to market. Today the Murray River paddle
steamers are still abundant along the river, however, their role has
changed to providing cruises along the river to the many people wishing
to enjoy its mystical tranquillity.
Water
based recreation is popular in Australia and the Murray River provides a
great tourist, recreation and sporting destination. People and families
regularly visit the Murray River and its catchments to boat, camp, hunt, fish,
bird-watch, water-ski, swim, jet-ski, cruise and sightsee. |
